Mom's Oasis: A Retreat to Half Moon Bay Lodge

Arrival and Check-In:

From the moment you arrive at Half Moon Bay Lodge, you can feel the stress melting away. The tranquil surroundings and welcoming atmosphere instantly put you at ease. Checking in is a breeze, and before you know it, you're settling into your cozy room, ready to leave the world behind for a little while.

Exploration and Adventure:

Half Moon Bay is a haven for nature lovers, and the lodge provides an array of amenities to maximize your experience. Fancy a ride? Hop on one of the complimentary bikes and cruise along the stunning coastal trails. It's the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery while staying active. Just check them out at the front desk and it’s yours for two hours!

You can take a leisurely stroll along the beach, collect seashells with the kids, or simply bask in the beauty of nature. If you're feeling more adventurous, there are plenty of hiking trails and outdoor activities to keep the whole family entertained. Some of our favorite spots are:

• Fitzgerald Marine Reserve- Explore the tide pools and see what marine animals you find. Then walk under the Cypress Tree Tunnel

• Moss Beach Park right next to Marine Fitzgerald Preserve

• Montara State Beach- Walk along the shore to find sea glass

• Bean Hollow- So much marine life to explore and rocks to climb.

• Half Moon Bay State Beach- parking is $10 or you can park in the neighborhood and walk in for free

• Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail

• Grab lunch at the fanciest Taco Bell in Pacifica. It is right on the beach so you can eat your lunch while watching all the surfers.

• Ocean View Park- 3 different levels of playgrounds, so great for all ages!

• Hangout at the fire pits outside of the Ritz Carlton and watch the sunset

• Lemos Farm is our favorite farm! They have pony rides, train rides, hay rides, petting zoo, bounce houses, Goat Yoga and more. 

It was rainy during our stay so it was nice having the option to play games inside the lodge. There are also outdoor games including connect four, ring toss, giant Jenga, and cornhole!

Culinary Delights:

One of the best parts of any getaway is the food, am I right? And Half Moon Bay Lodge does not disappoint in this department. Start your day with a delicious continental breakfast at the hotel. They have a wide variety of food such as coffee, waffles, bagels, toast, seasonal jams and jellies, honey, cereals with milk, hot oatmeal, yogurts, and more!

The best Italian/seafood can be found at Fattoria e Mare. Pablo Estrada the chef and owner spoiled us for dinner. My favorite was the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe. I never had pasta prepared table side for me in a cheese wheel, it was so fun to watch! You can really taste all the cheese and pepper on every noodle. They are known for their seafood so treat yourself to the seafood platter. You will have to save room for their heavenly panna cotta and cheesecake topped with fluffy house-made cotton candy! All their ingredients are locally sourced by the farms in the area which makes it even better!

Relaxation and Rejuvenation:

After a day of adventuring, enjoy some marshmallow-roasting fun at the lodge. Slip into the outdoor hot tub and let the warm water soothe your tired muscles, or book a massage at the onsite spa for some much-needed pampering. Trust me, a little self-care goes a long way in recharging those mom batteries.
