Glowfari at the Oakland Zoo

The Oakland Zoo’s Glowfari is back with all new larger than life lanterns! Happening now through January 28, 2024 from 5-9pm. Adult tickets are $26, children and seniors are $22 and kids under 2 are free. Tickets go on sale 28 days in advance on a rolling basis so even if tickets are currently sold out you still have a chance for tickets available later in the season. There are snacks and light up toys on sale on site and parking is free.

You won’t want to miss Glowfari! This luminous extravaganza transforms the zoo into a mesmerizing wonderland after dark, offering a unique blend of art, conservation, and entertainment. If you're planning to embark on this radiant journey, here's a guide packed with details and tips to make the most of your Glowfari adventure. This year’s themes include: North America, Arctic, Deep Ocean, Bayou and Madagascar.

Tips:

  • Ticket Reservations: Secure your tickets in advance. Glowfari tends to sell out quickly, especially on weekends or holidays. Online reservations can ensure a hassle-free entry. Tickets become available 28 days in advance on a rolling basis.

  • Arrive Early: Beat the crowds by arriving early. This gives you ample time to explore the exhibits and take stunning photos in the natural evening glow before the darkness sets in.

  • Weather Preparedness: Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. Oakland evenings can get chilly, so layers and comfortable shoes are recommended for a pleasant experience.

  • Interactive Zones: Make sure to save time for the interactive areas in the Bayou.

  • The gondola takes you to the arctic area and is popular. Best to try to go to that first or near the end (they stop rides at 7:30pm).

  • It is stroller or wagon friendly for little ones.

  • The Madagascar area is where you can meet Santa (there every night in December), ride the train or enjoy the other small rides. Santa is a free visit but the other rides have a small cost- train is $2.50/person

Glowfari for an unforgettable experience for a variety of ages. It is a winter must see!
